Overview 

Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) has grown into a full-fledged university offering a wide range of programmes which bears testimony to our impressive track record within the Malaysian private-higher education industry. 


The Faculty of Medicine educates health professionals and life science students from undergraduate to graduate and postgraduate levels to conducting researches in laboratory, clinical settings and at the population and public policy level to improve the health of people. This faculty is run in the same region with five partner hospitals to provide a broad coverage of the programme structure linking pre-clinical and clinical science subjects for our students to learn. 


MBBS programme has been vetted and approved by the Malaysian Medical Council and provides equitable access to quality medical education for all. The MBBS programme is offered in Johor Bahru campus. Asia Metropolitan University is an eligible institution to receive students enrolling under various government and private financial assistance programs for dependent students. Grant and loan amounts are based on several economic and personal factors. 


Students who are interested can fill out an application in the Financial Aid Office. If you are enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Asia Metropolitan University, and are a citizen or permanent resident of Malaysia, you are eligible to apply for these programs. Remember that grants are gifts, but may have to be repaid. Student loans must always be repaid. In line with the recent developments in the industry and within our institution, AMU is focused on producing trained, qualified, competent graduates for domestic and international markets in health sciences and various other disciplines.

IHSM students are coming from different countries with their own distinct cultures, perspectives, and lifestyles. The main goal of the faculty and administration is to help them get accustomed to the new environment. Sometimes simple information about housing, food, shopping, postal and bank services is essential to keep students well functioning.

IHSM provides the opportunity to live in school dormitories and rent apartments. However, we advise to choose dormitory options for students of the first years of studies. Although modern connection capabilities highly depend on internet, postal and courier services they are still important. Many courier and postal services are available to transfer documental and non-documental goods. Along with the well-established EMS postal service, others like DHL, Express have always been available. IHSM students can receive any postal correspondence and any other messages delivered to the IHSM headquarters, which dispatch them safely to the addressees.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at Asia Metropolitan University

University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.

Malaysia is a Southeast Asian country occupying parts of the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo. Malaysia is a country in Southeast Asia, located partly on a peninsula of the Asian mainland and partly on the northern third of the island of Borneo.

West (peninsular) Malaysia shares a border with Thailand, is connected by a causeway and a bridge (the 'second link') to the island state of Singapore, and has coastlines on the South China Sea and the Straits of Malacca. East Malaysia (Borneo) shares borders with Brunei and Indonesia.

Malaysia is a mix of the modern world and a developing nation. With its investment in the high technology industries and moderate oil wealth, it has become one of the richest nations in Southeast Asia. Malaysia, for most visitors, presents a happy mix: there is high-tech infrastructure and things generally work well and more or less on schedule, but prices remain more reasonable than, say, Singapore.

Climate
The climate in Malaysia is tropical. The north-east monsoon (October to February) deluges Borneo and the east coast in rain and often causes flooding, while the west coast (particularly Langkawi and Penang) escape unscathed. The milder south-west monsoon (April to October) reverses the pattern. The southern parts of peninsular Malaysia, including perennially soggy Kuala Lumpur, are exposed to both but even during the rainy season, the showers tend to be intense but brief.

Malaysia is close to the equator, therefore warm weather is guaranteed. Temperatures generally range from 32°C/89.6 ºF at noon to about 26°C/78.8 ºF at midnight. But like most Southeast Asian countries, Malaysia's sun-shining days are interrupted by Monsoon season from November and February every year, and night temperatures can hit a low of about 23°C/73.4 ºF on rainy days.

Temperatures tend to be cooler in the highlands, with the likes of Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands and Fraser's Hill having temperatures ranging from about 17°C/62.6 ºF at night to about 25°C/77 ºF in the day. Mount Kinabalu is known to have temperatures falling below 10°C/50 ºF.
