The TSMU has modern educational buildings, clinics and laboratories, which include 5 faculties: medical, paediatrics, dental, pharmaceutical and the faculty of Public Health.
Overview
The Medical University of Tajikistan successfully work not only in their republic, but also with more than 40 countries of the world, including the Russian Federation, CIS countries, England, Germany, USA, Iran, Afghanistan, China, Turkey, India, Yemen, in a number of African states. Medical scientists of Tajikistan are making their contribution to further improving the organization and quality of scientific research, increasing their efficiency and introducing the results of scientific research into the practice of health authorities and institutions. This contributes to the development of a set of effective preventive and other measures to protect and strengthen the health of the population, taking into account the climatic and geographical features of Tajikistan and the high growth rate of its population.
History
Since its establishment in 1939, the medical university has educated more than 35,000 highly skilled medical personnel working not only inside the country, but abroad as well. One of the primary goals of the University is to adjust the national system of medical education - structures, contents, terms and quality to the both international standards and requirements to the quality of a professional training, that will allow Tajikistan to join the world community of medical education and provide the development of the international cooperation in the field of training and advancing the professional skill of the medical staff.
Academic profile
The University has four faculties - Medical, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical and Public Health Faculty. The total number of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels makes 8844, including over 500 international students from 15 countries, such as India, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan etc.

IHSM provides the opportunity to live in school dormitories and rent apartments. However, we advise to choose dormitory options for students of the first years of studies. University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.
