About University
The Cebu Institute of Medicine is a non-stock, non-profit institution established in June 1957, then known as Cebu Institute of Technology, College of Medicine (CIT – College of Medicine). Its pioneering class of 33 students graduated in 1962 from the then five-year curriculum.
The Cebu Institute of Medicine has largely benefited and has become what it is now from the excellent leadership provided by the previous administrations. We have started another academic year and as always, we will focus on continuing the Culture of Excellence and maintain the momentum by concentrating on maintaining the national recognition we’ve had in our endeavors. We select each new entering class with the intent of ensuring that when we train tomorrow’s doctors, they will be well-prepared to practice their chosen specialties to meet the needs of the people they are going to serve. Velez College has been a consistent top performer in the Medical Technology, Nursing, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Licensure Examinations in several years.
Overview
The Cebu institute of Medicine (CIM) was established in June 1957 as Cebu Institute of Technology College of Medicine. In 1966, CIM became a non-stock, non-profit medical learning institution. Located at the uptown section of Cebu City, CIM has grown to become a leading medical institution outside Metro Manila. From 33 graduates in 1962, the school has of August 2013 produced 5162 physicians, 42 of whom graduated with honors. One hundred twenty nine (129) of its graduates have topped the Physician Licensure Examination.
Ranked number one among the Top Performing School in the country 2001 –August 2013. In March 1987, the Board of Medical Education has classified the Cebu Institute of Medicine as belonging to level IV category, the highest category. In April 1996, the Commission in Higher Education recognized the Cebu Institute 123456 of Medicine as one of three Centers of Excellence for Medicine. In September 2001, the Commission on Higher Education granted the institution an Autonomous status. In 2007, we received our accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges & Universities (PAASCU) and in December 2011, we achieved PAASCU Level II Accreditation.

IHSM students are coming from different countries with their own distinct cultures, perspectives, and lifestyles. The main goal of the faculty and administration is to help them get accustomed to the new environment. Sometimes simple information about housing, food, shopping, postal and bank services is essential to keep students well functioning.
IHSM provides the opportunity to live in school dormitories and rent apartments. However, we advise to choose dormitory options for students of the first years of studies. Although modern connection capabilities highly depend on internet, postal and courier services they are still important. Many courier and postal services are available to transfer documental and non-documental goods. Along with the well-established EMS postal service, others like DHL, Express have always been available. IHSM students can receive any postal correspondence and any other messages delivered to the IHSM headquarters, which dispatch them safely to the addressees.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at Cebu Institute of Medicine
University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.
