History 

The history of Caucasus University began in 1998 when Caucasus School of Business was established. Its motto is "Studium Pretium Libertatis". CU offers students a high level of education, international programs, practice-oriented teaching. The training of highly qualified specialists is provided by lecturers with international qualifications. Caucasus University consists of schools of Business, Law, Media, Technology, Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences, Tourism, Medicine and Healthcare Management, Economics, Education. 

The University has the right to award academic degrees of Bachelor, Master, Doctor and Medical Doctor to the graduates in accordance with the rules established by the legislation of Georgia. The university has a training center and offers a variety of certification programs. Caucasus University Undergraduate Program in Tourism has received the World Tourism Organization’s TEDQUAL Certificate. 

Caucasus University is the first in Georgia and one of the first in the region to successfully pass the certification process. Caucasus University became a member of the AACSB in 2007, and in 2018 gained the right to start the accreditation process. Caucasus School of Business has successfully passed several important stages and is preparing for the final stage of the accreditation process. 

Caucasus University has been cooperating with various universities around the world since its establishment and currently has 162 partner universities in 54 countries. This fact allows the university to receive foreign students and lecturers, have dual degree programs, as well as exchange programs for students, academic and administrative staff. Consequently, students are given the opportunity to participate in exchange programs. They travel abroad intensively, and at the same time, citizens of other countries study with us. 98% of Caucasus University graduates and 80% of students are employed in both the private and public sectors, as well as in international companies and organizations throughout Georgia and around the world. 

The CU Campus, with its modern infrastructure and equipment is one of the largest higher educational institutions in Georgia and in the region. The building is historic, built in 1909. In 1911-1924, an Armenian seminary functioned in this place. The building has been under renovation for several years and the historic monument has been preserved as much as possible. All parts of the former seminary that could be restored were restored. 

Caucasus University has been implementing educational programs in Batumi in the field of Tourism, Law and Economics since 2010. Construction of a new CU campus in Batumi has already started. The building will be equipped with modern infrastructure, a library, laboratories, sports fields and a swimming pool. A student dormitory will also be built. Caucasus University campus in Batumi will offer undergraduate and graduate programs. Two new majors will be added to the Batumi campus - Caucasus Maritime School and Culinary Academy. There will be a training center at the university. 

MEDICINE AND HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT SCHOOL 

Caucasus School of Economics and Healthcare was founded in 2012 as the Healthcare School, which in December 2013 after the program extension and new programs addition was renamed. In 2018 the Schools of Economics and Healthcare was divided into two and the Schools of Medicine and Healthcare Management were set up. 

The mission of the School of Medicine and Healthcare Management is implementation of modern approaches and values of healthcare systems in Georgia; unfortunately, the situation in this respect in Georgia is unprepossessing. With the view of improving health of Georgian population, enhancing the healthcare quality, meeting the international standards and securing financial stability of healthcare institutions, the goal of our school is: 

a) to prepare managers and leaders of healthcare system meeting international standards; 

b) teach new technologies of healthcare management The aim of the “Medical Doctor“s” Programme: is to prepare Medical Doctors who are competitive on the local and international market, highly qualified, morally grounded, with appropriate competences, who will be able to satisfy educational requirements of an open society, which facilitates implementation of the CU”s general mission: to graduate competitive, highly qualified, morally grounded graduates who are faithful to democratic values and principles of democracy. 

Educational programme is focused on the standards of Medical Education of the World Federation (WFME).The programme provides development of such practical / clinical abilities and way of thinking which is essential for a successful professional activity and post-diploma lifelong education. 

Objectives of the programme are as follows: 

• To give international standard education of evidence based medicine which is indispensable for practical medical work; 

• To provide the graduates with education in basic, clinical, behavioral and social sciences necessary for practical activities in the field of medicine. 

• To generate motivation for the continuous medical education (LLL) and professional development. 

• To gain the knowledge of legislative basics of the healthcare system; 

• To acquire clinical and communication (with the patient, her/his family, colleagues and other representatives of the health care) skills and patient-centered competences. 

• To acquire values of Medical Ethics (sense of respect of patients, taking into consideration their interests despite their social, cultural, religious and ethnic background; work in accordance with the professional ethics).
