Overview

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL, or informally QM) is a public research university in London, England, and a constituent college of the federal University of London. It dates back to the foundation of London Hospital Medical College in 1785. Queen Mary College, named after Mary of Teck, was admitted to the University of London in 1915 and in 1989 merged with Westfield College to form Queen Mary and Westfield College.

In 1995 Queen Mary and Westfield College merged with St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College and the London Hospital Medical College to form the School of Medicine and Dentistry. At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.

Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers. Our reformer heritage informs our conviction that great ideas can and should come from anywhere. It’s an approach that has brought results across the globe, from the communities of east London to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form. Study with one of the best UK medical schools We are a global leading university enhancing the international agenda through our unique student, research and public engagement profile. Ours is a place where the boundaries of research and innovation are pushed, providing opportunities to individuals with talent and potential in the process.

Malta is a small, island country in the Mediterranean Sea that lies south of the island of Sicily, Italy. Malta is an archipelago, but only the three largest islands of Malta, Gozo (Għawdex) and Kemmuna (Comino) are inhabited.

Climate
Malta's climate is determined by the Mediterranean Sea and is similar to other Mediterranean climates. Most of the rain comes in the winter months, between September and March. However, much of the winter is still quite sunny and warm in comparison to areas further north in Europe, with 15 C or 16 C as a typical afternoon high temperature even in the coldest months. While it tends to be windy at coastal areas, in inland it is often quite warm. Summers are virtually guaranteed to be dry and hot. The beach season spans about 6 months from the end of April to the end of October.

Arrivals
Malta International Airport is the official airport of the Maltese islands with a large number of airlines operating regular scheduled and charter flights to and from Malta. The airport is the main hub for Air Malta and Medavia, and a European hub for Ryanair and its subsidiary Malta Air.

The airport is one of the best connected in its class: it links Malta to more than 100 destinations in three continents, with over four million passengers going through the airport each year.

Malta International Airport is 5km away from the capital, Valletta, and a 45-minute drive from the ferry terminal at Cirkewwa.
