Tribhuvan University (TU), established in 1959, is the first national institution of higher education in Nepal. The Central Administrative Office and the Central Campus of the university are located on the north eastern facade of Kirtipur, an ancient and small town located five kilometers away from Kathmandu city center.
The university covers over an area of 154.77 hectares (3042-5-2 ropanis) of land at Kirtipur. 40After the second democratic movement of 2006, the Prime Minister of Nepal is the ceremonial chief, the Chancellor of the University, whereas the Minister of Education is the Pro-Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the university.
Academic programmes are headed by the Rector the financial management and general administration are regulated by Registrar under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor. Tribhuvan University is a non-profit making autonomous institution funded by the Government of Nepal.
January 8, 2013, the government of Nepal has principally agreed to declare Tribhuvan University as the Central University. There are five institutes and four faculties under which 40 central departments, 62 constituent campuses, and 1062 affiliated colleges in different disciplines are running.
Likewise, there are four research centres in TU Being one of the largest universities in the world in terms of its size and the diversity of programmes, it has been able to fulfill the requirements of large number of students.

IHSM students are coming from different countries with their own distinct cultures, perspectives, and lifestyles. The main goal of the faculty and administration is to help them get accustomed to the new environment. Sometimes simple information about housing, food, shopping, postal and bank services is essential to keep students well functioning.
IHSM provides the opportunity to live in school dormitories and rent apartments. However, we advise to choose dormitory options for students of the first years of studies. Although modern connection capabilities highly depend on internet, postal and courier services they are still important. Many courier and postal services are available to transfer documental and non-documental goods. Along with the well-established EMS postal service, others like DHL, Express have always been available. IHSM students can receive any postal correspondence and any other messages delivered to the IHSM headquarters, which dispatch them safely to the addressees.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at U Tribhuvan
University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.
