About University
The University of Balochistan (UB) (Urdu: جامعہ بلوچستان), also known as Balochistan University, is a public university located in the downtown area of Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. UoB is the oldest highest education institution in Balochistan, having been established in 1970. History The University of Balochistan was established in October-1970 through an Ordinance issued by the then Governor Balochistan. In June 1996, the Balochistan Assembly passed an ACT called the University of Balochistan ACT 1996. Thus the University of Balochistan became the sole general University of the Province imparting Higher Education to the entire population of the province in Science, Arts and Humanities.
The University initially started with three departments i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Geology. With the passage of time, new departments have been established, Four Institutes (Institute of Management Sciences, Institute of Biochemistry, Institute of Education & Research, Institute of Languages & Literature) and five specialized centers (Center of Excellence in Mineralogy, Pakistan Study Center, Area Study Center, Balochistan Study Center, Center for Advance Studies in Vaccinology and Biotechnology) of higher studies and research, one constituent Law College, four sub-campuses (Mastung, Kharan, Pishin, Killa-Saifullah) and several other affiliated colleges.
Furthermore, the Abdul Samad Khan Shaheed Chair, and Nawab Yousaf Aziz Magsi Chair has been established at UoB. Four year BS program has only been started in different departments and likewise departments are successfully running Master's, M.Phil and PhD degree programs. The University has shifted to semester system w.e.f.. 2017. The current enrolment is over 14000 in different degree programs.
Admission is given to the local as well as domicile residents of the province on the following basis:- a. Open Merit Balochistan 10%. b. Open merit Quetta District 15%. c. Open Merit: District other than Quetta. 75%. d. A number of seats are also reserved for other disciplines. The University of Balochistan campus is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified

IHSM provides the opportunity to live in school dormitories and rent apartments. However, we advise to choose dormitory options for students of the first years of studies. Although modern connection capabilities highly depend on internet, postal and courier services they are still important. Many courier and postal services are available to transfer documental and non-documental goods. Along with the well-established EMS postal service, others like DHL, Express have always been available. IHSM students can receive any postal correspondence and any other messages delivered to the IHSM headquarters, which dispatch them safely to the addressees.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at University of Balochistan Pakistan
University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.
