Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), also known as Udusok, is a public research university located in the city of Sokoto, Nigeria. It is one of the initial twelve universities founded in Nigeria by the federal government in 1975. The university is named after Usman dan Fodio, the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate.
Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) was founded in 1975 as one of the initial twelve federal government-owned universities in Nigeria. Now an established research university, UDUS has 12 faculties—including Health Sciences and Pharmaceutical Science—and a postgraduate school to provide master’s and doctoral training in the sciences and other disciplines.
UDUS’ mission is “to provide quality teaching, research and community service to deserving persons and communities, under the most peaceful atmosphere and in line with the national policy on education, irrespective of social class, gender, race, nationality and religion; and to ensure that at all times it serves a center for pursuit of research and academic excellence.”

Udusok is a four, five and six-years degree-awarding institution that also runs associate degrees and remedial programmes. The university has a standard medical program and University Teaching Hospital. The University is divided into three campuses.
The main campus houses faculties of Agriculture, Arts & Languages, Education, Engineering, Law, Sciences, social sciences, Center for peace studies and Center for Energy research and training. The university senate, the main library complex (Abdullahi Fodiyo Library Complex) and the School of Postgraduate Studies are also located at the main campus.
The annex campus hosts the Veterinary Teaching Hospital with the faculty of Veterinary medicine and its teaching hospital, the Centre for Islamic Studies and the school of remedial program (school of matriculation studies).
A third campus houses the university's teaching hospital, faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, college of Health Sciences and faculty of Medical Laboratory Science.

Abuja features a tropical wet and dry climate with a warm and humid season and a blistering dry season. Precipitation measure 1.221,2mm on average. The dry season lasts from November to March and it's characterised by scorching heat, clear skies and occasional sandstorms caused by the harmattan wind. High temperatures are around 35°C (95°F) and lows are around 15°C (59°F), meaning large temperature variations between day and night. Maxima do reach 40°C (104°F) on occasion and nights can be cool sometimes, with minima dropping to 10°C (50°F). The warm and humid season lasts from April to October and is characterised by sweltering days, cool nights and pouring rain. Days still have highs around 30°C (86°F), but the feeling of the heat is much stronger, due to very high relative humidity. Nights have lows usually around 20°C (68°F).
