The Medical University of Warsaw (Polish name: Warszawski Uniwersytet Medyczny, Latin name: Universitas Medica Varsoviensis) is one of the oldest and the largest medical school in Poland. The first academic department of medicine was created in 1809. It is one of the most prestigious schools of medical science affiliated with a number of large hospitals in Poland. 


The Medical University of Warsaw has managed to establish a recognized international position in research, both in clinical and theoretical medicine. The University has scientific research cooperation with many universities and research institutions in Europe, especially Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain. At present this cooperation is also being developed with other foreign partners from Europe, USA, Canada and Asia – China and Japan. 


Research projects are conducted and developed in clinical medicine in: oncology, nephrology, transplantology, cardiology, hematology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, dermatology, neurology, pulmonology, ophthalmology, urology, as well as in theoretical medicine (histology, immunology, anatomy, biology, pharmacology and physiology). 


Overview 

The Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) is one of the oldest medical schools in Poland. For over 200 years it has provided education and training in medicine and pharmacy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. MUW's programs meet the highest international standards of university-level education and are based on the principles of good clinical and pharmaceutical practice. 


The academic staff of the Medical University of Warsaw are recognized nationally and internationally for their contributions to the research and practice in medicine. Many of them hold the prestigious posts of National Medical Consultants. The Medical University of Warsaw provides general and specialty training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students learn at our six clinical teaching hospitals who provide general and tertiary medical care to patients. 


Our students and staff also conduct scientific and clinical research at these hospitals as well as are involved in a number of clinical academic departments located in other hospitals in Warsaw. MUW offers 19 degree programs including 3 full-time degree programs in English: Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy.

The main goal of the faculty and administration is to help them get accustomed to the new environment. Sometimes simple information about housing, food, shopping, postal and bank services is essential to keep students well functioning.

IHSM provides the opportunity to live in school dormitories and rent apartments. However, we advise to choose dormitory options for students of the first years of studies. Although modern connection capabilities highly depend on internet, postal and courier services they are still important. Many courier and postal services are available to transfer documental and non-documental goods. Along with the well-established EMS postal service, others like DHL, Express have always been available. IHSM students can receive any postal correspondence and any other messages delivered to the IHSM headquarters, which dispatch them safely to the addressees.

Documents Required for Admission at Warsaw Medical Academy

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at Warsaw Medical Academy

University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.

There are no border controls between countries that have signed and implemented this treaty - the European Union (except Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the United Kingdom), Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Likewise, a visa granted for any Schengen member is valid in all other countries that have signed and implemented the treaty. But be careful: not all EU members have signed the Schengen treaty, and not all Schengen members are part of the European Union. This means that there may be spot customs checks but no immigration checks (travelling within Schengen but to/from a non-EU country) or you may have to clear immigration but not customs (travelling within the EU but to/from a non-Schengen country).
