Xuzhou Medical College
The university was established in 1958 as Xuzhou branch, Nanjing Medical College initially. In 1959, Xinhailian Medical Academy was merged into the branch, which was independent and renamed Xuzhou Medical College in the next year. In 2000, Xuzhou Health Vocational School was merged into the college. With the approval of Ministry of Education, the college was formally renamed Xuzhou Medical University in 2016.

About University
About the XZMU
Xuzhou Medical University, founded in 1958, is an institution of high education under the direct administration of Jiangsu Provincial Government. After more than fifty years development, XZMU has now become the center of medical education, medical service and medical research in the north of Jiangsu Province as well as Huaihai Economic Zone which consists of the combined parts of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhwei. XZMU started its five-year undergraduate program in 1958 and adult continuing education programs in 1960. In 1985, the university was authorized to confer master’s degree.
In 1993, the university began its joint PhD training programs with many famous medical universities in the nation. In 2005, the university was approved to recruit international students. In 2013, the university was authorized to award doctoral degree. XZMU has established friendly relationships with dozens of colleges, universities and institutes from around the world through years of initiatives to promote international cooperation. Various forms of cooperative programs have been effectively carried out, including the faculty and students exchange programs, visiting scholar programs.
