About MBBS Course

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae; abbreviated in many ways, most commonly MBBS, but also MB ChB, BMBS, MB BCh, MB BChir and BM BCh), is the primary medical degree awarded by medical schools in countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom. The historical degree nomenclature states that they are two separate undergraduate degrees. In practice, however, they are usually combined as one and conferred together, and may also be awarded at graduate-level medical schools.

Compared to other disciplines of study, medical school is fairly challenging, but the rewards and fulfilment that come with choosing a career in medicine are well worth the effort. The most sought-after and recognised degree for doctors is the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). The Bachelor of Medicine and the Bachelor of Surgery are two bachelor's degrees that belong to the same field (MBBS). The United Kingdom served as the model for this style, which is used by numerous colleges throughout the world.

While the US system confers the two degrees as M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) and D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine). The only degree that allows eligible students to use the title "doctor" before their name is the MBBS. Typically, the MBBS programme lasts 5.5 to 6 years (4.5 years of academic study with a 1-year internship).
