School Profile 

Anhui Medical University is one of the earliest higher education institutions in Anhui Province and the first higher medical institution in Anhui Province. The school is located in Hefei, a famous historical and cultural city known as "the lips and teeth in the south of the Yangtze River, and the throat on the right of the Huai River". The school is a key university in Anhui Province. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission and Anhui Province. It is the first batch of high-level universities with local characteristics and the first batch of comprehensive reform pilot schools in Anhui Province. 

The predecessor of the school was Southeast Medical University, which was founded in Shanghai in 1926. In 1949 , it moved to Huaiyuan, Anhui in response to the call of the East China Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to "face the countryside and go to the inland". It was located in Hefei in 1952 and renamed Anhui Medical College. In 1985 , it was renamed Anhui Medical University. As the birthplace of medical higher education in Anhui, the school has always been the pioneer, breeder and leader of higher medical education and health care in Anhui Province. When the school was founded, a large number of medical educators such as Guo Qiyuan, Zhang Xiqi, Tang Lizhou, Yu Xiu, Li Zuwei, Hu Ding’an, Chen Bangdian, Wan Xin, who had the dream of treating the people with benevolence and good medicine to serve the country, taught at the school and wrote books, narration, and Taoism. It has 1 national key discipline, 3 provincial key disciplines, 8 national key clinical specialties, and 75 key clinical specialties of Anhui Province. 

Clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, public health and preventive medicine, pharmacy, biology and other 5 disciplines in Anhui Province is a first-class disciplines award public funds in regular undergraduate institutions make up the project.
