Harbin Medical University was formed by the Harbin Medical College founded by Chinese medical pioneer Dr. Wu Liande in 1926 and Xingshan China Medical University No. 1 and No. 2 branches. After 95 years of development and construction, the school has inherited Dr. Wu Liande spirit of "sincere patriotism, self-improvement and entrepreneurship", carried forward the glorious tradition of "Political firmness and excellent technology" of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army Health School, adhering to the "Mu Zhi Zhong Sheng, knowledgeable medical" 

The school motto, comprehensive strength has been continuously enhanced, with a considerable scale of development and distinctive school-running characteristics. The school is a university jointly established by ministries, commissions and provinces, a high-level university in Heilongjiang Province, a university with advantageous characteristics, a Chinese lead unit of the Sino-Russian Medical University Alliance, a national science basic scientific research and teaching talent training base, and the first batch of pilot seven-year higher education institutions by the Ministry of Education Medical education institutions. 

The school has 18 secondary faculties and 8 institutions. There are 10 affiliated hospitals, of which 5 are directly affiliated. There are 17,100 faculty members (520 on Daqing campus), 13,968 general education undergraduates ( 6026 on Daqing campus ), 7066 postgraduates (1381 doctoral students, 5685 postgraduates), and 377 international students.

There are 38 provincial leaders in the echelon of leading talents, 6 "Head Goose" teams in Heilongjiang Province, 29 "Longjiang Scholars" distinguished professors, and 5 young scholars. The school has 9 first-level discipline authorization points for doctoral degrees, 62 second-level discipline authorization points; 11 first-level discipline authorization points for master's degree, 64 second-level discipline authorization points; and 5 post-doctoral research stations. There are 29 undergraduate majors ( 11 on Daqing campus ). The school has 2 national key disciplines, 1 national key cultivated discipline, 33 national key clinical specialty construction projects, and 21 provincial key disciplines (groups). In the fourth round of subject evaluation, 1 subject entered the A category and 8 subjects entered the B category. Five disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI international discipline rankings. 

There are 12 national-level first-class professional construction sites and 2 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites. 2 international cooperation joint laboratories, 1 national key laboratory cultivation base jointly established by the province and the ministry, 4 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 3 key laboratories of the Health Commission, 18 provincial key laboratories, and provincial key universities 11 laboratories. Build 2 academician workstations with local governments and enterprises. Established the Northern Medical Translational Research Cooperation Center. There is 1 national clinical teaching and training demonstration center, 4 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 1 national virtual simulation experiment teaching center. 

Over the past ten years, he has edited 76 textbooks planned by the Ministry of Education and the Health Commission and republished 76 textbooks. Three pilot projects of the Ministry of Education's outstanding doctor education and training plan reform have been approved. Won 4 national video public courses, 12 national resource sharing courses, and 10 national first-class undergraduate courses. Won 7 bronze prizes in the China "Internet +" University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. He has won 16 national teaching achievement awards and 145 provincial teaching achievement awards. 850 provincial-level educational research projects were established, and 1,108 national-level educational and teaching papers were published, 11 of which were included in SCI. 

Won 10186 scientific research projects of various types, presided over 1 national key basic research and development plan ("973" plan), 1 national high-tech development plan ("863" plan), 1 national science and technology major project, national key research and development plan special project 4 projects, 1532 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Won 1044 various awards, including 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 5 first prizes of the Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Scientific Research) of Colleges and Universities, 2 first prizes of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, and China Patent Award 1 Excellence Award.
