Suez University is an Egyptian public university established by the presidential decree no 193 in 2012 to transfer Suez Canal University branch in Suez to an independent university. Suez University is the first university established by a presidential decree after the January 25 revolution in Egypt.

About University

Suez University was set up as a government university after a presidential decree was issued in 2012, but prior to that had been a branch of the Suez Canal University since 2006. It was the first university to be established by presidential decree after the January 25th uprising in Egypt in 2011.

It began with six faculties and now has 12, which comprise the faculty of petroleum and mining engineering; the faculty of education; the faculty of industrial education; the faculty of commerce; the faculty of science; the faculty of fish resources; the faculty of arts; the faculty of economics and political sciences; the faculty of computer and information science; the faculty of media and mass communication; the faculty of medicine and the faculty of engineering.

There are plans to add a faculty of pharmacy, a faculty of dentistry, a faculty of physical therapy and a Technical Institute of Nursing, as well as a university hospital. The University of Suez has about 12,350 students. The university has opened classes for the College of Education in Tur Sinai as a nucleus of new colleges that will pave the way to the establishment of the branch in Tur City, South Sinai.

This forms part of its national commitment and responsibility to reconstruct Sinai. Suez, which is Al-Suways in Arabic, is a port at the head of the Gulf of Suez and at the southern exit of the Suez Canal in Northern Egypt. A naval and trade centre, Suez is 130km from Cairo, with the capital accessible by both train and road. It is known for its petroleum refineries, canal workshops and an artificial fertiliser plan. It’s also a well-known departure point for the hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

The university seeks to achieve the highest quality of education both on the level of the higher education and the scientific research. Believing that education and ethical morals play a pivotal role in developing the nations, particularly the youth, the university and its scientists attempt to achieve this aim by linking the education and scientific research to the community needs in this crucial stage in the history of Egypt; and this is in the light of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s discerning vision which places the issue of developing education, scientific research and innovation as a fundamental means for nation’s development and progress.

Egypt (Egyptian Arabic: "مصر" Masr; officially, the Arab Republic of Egypt, Arabic: جمهورية مصر العربية) is a transcontinental country in North Africa and the Middle East with its capital located in its largest city, Cairo. Egypt also extends into Asia by virtue of holding the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt is bordered by Israel and the Gaza Strip to the north-east, by Sudan to the south and by Libya to the west. The country is bounded by the Mediterranean and Red Seas (to the north and east respectively) and geographically dominated both by the Nile River and its fertile well-watered valley, and by the Eastern and Western deserts.

Egypt is perhaps best known as the home of the ancient Egyptian civilization, with its temples, hieroglyphs, mummies, and - visible above all - its pyramids. Less well-known is Egypt's medieval heritage, courtesy of Coptic Christianity and Islam - ancient churches, monasteries and mosques punctuate the Egyptian landscape. Egypt stimulates the imagination of western tourists like few other countries and is probably one of the most popular tourist destinations world-wide.

Climate
Egypt is largely a desert, an extension of the great Sahara that bands North Africa. Save for the thin strip of watered land along the Nile River broadening into the Nile delta, very little could survive here. As the ancient Greek historian Herodotus stated: "Egypt is the gift of the Nile".

Generally, the summers are hot and dry and the winters, moderate. November through March are definitely the most comfortable months for travel in Egypt. There is almost no rain in the Nile valley, so you won't need wet weather gear!

The climate
However, climate does vary a little bit depending on where you are in the country. On the north coast along the Mediterranean Sea, a thin strip of land stretching from the sea to 50 km southwards receives some of the most heavy rain in the country during winter months. Thunderstorms along with heavy rain showers that often last several hours are not uncommon here such as in Alexandria, Marsa Matruh and all other coastal areas, and even the Delta. In some years the rainstorms can last for a whole day or so, though the rain tends to be less heavy. Hail is also not uncommon, especially out in the desert where the weather is usually colder and allows for ice to fall and even frost to form on non-rainy days.

Arrivals
Egypt has several international airports:

Cairo International Airport — the primary entry point and the hub of the national carrier Egyptair.
Alexandria Nozha
Luxor International Airport — now receiving an increasing number of international scheduled flights, mostly from Europe, in addition to charter flights.
Aswan International Airport
Hurghada International Airport — receives a number of charter flights
Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport — receives a number of charter flights.
Burg Al-Arab International Airport
Marsa Alam International Airport
