About University

History

Driven by love of homeland and responsibility for the life and survival of the nation, especially in an effort to participate in educating the life of the nation in order to produce and build human resources that are experts and skilled in the maritime field, the University of Hang Tuah Surabaya Indonesia has decided to establish a moving foundation in higher education. To realize this determination, on March 4, 1987, the establishment of the Nala Foundation was confirmed with a deed of establishment Number 5 before a notary R. Soedjono in Surabaya.

The Nala Foundation was established with the intent and purpose of the Indonesian Navy's participation in national development, especially development in the field of higher education in accordance with the national education system based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. The education referred to is marine-oriented, so that it can support the availability of resources. skilled and skilled human resources in the maritime world in sufficient numbers.

Then on March 14, 1987, the leader of the Indonesian Navy formed a working committee to prepare for the establishment of Hang Tuah University Surabaya, which consisted of 5 (five) Navy officers, namely Admiral TNI Anwar Afandi as chairman, Col. Laut (KH) Drs. Soekimin Pranoto as vice chairman, Lieutenant Colonel. (F) Kamidjo as secretary, Marine Col. Budi Subagyo, Col. (Ret.) Suradi, Marine Lt. Col. (T) Sudarto, BA as members. With the hard work of the working committee, on May 12, 1987, coinciding with TNI AL Education Day, Hang Tuah University Surabaya was inaugurated by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral TNI R. Kasenda.

For the first time serving as rector was Admiral TNI Suyoso Sukarno, Ph.D (Vice Governor AAL) UHT held lectures at the Teluk Bayur Campus No. 6 Surabaya (former Mess Kowal building). The faculties that were opened were the Faculty of Marine Technology, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Fisheries, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and the Faculty of Law. Meanwhile, the legal entity (BPH) of the Nala Foundation based in Surabaya has also succeeded in establishing the Daily Chair of the Nala Foundation, which is held by Major General TNI (Mar) Edi Hidrosin (Governor of AAL). Nala's name is taken from the character historical of the Majapahit kingdom, a commander of the Majapahit Royal Navy, Admiral Nala. In an effort to develop a more integrated management, on April 20, 1987 Kasal as Chairman of the Board of the Nala Foundation, issued several important decrees regarding the appointment of positions.

However, due to the hectic tasks of KASAL, based on decree No. 1322, the responsibility of the Chairman of the Nala Foundation Board of Directors was transferred from Kasal to the Deputy Chief of Operations Sector based on deed No. 10 of Notary R. Soedjono in Surabaya dated May 23, 1988. In this regard, the Nala Foundation built an integrated campus in Sukolilo with an area of 50 ha. The location of this campus is ideal because it is far from the noise of the city and also close to other educational centers.

The construction of the first 10 ha campus was inaugurated on April 9, 1988 by Kasal Admiral TNI R. Kasenda. On December 4, 1989, the new campus was inaugurated by Kasal Admiral TNI M. Arifin. About City

Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania between the Indian and Pacific oceans. It consists of over seventeen thousand islands, including Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and parts of Borneo and New Guinea.

Climate
Upon arrival and disembarking from the plane, you'll immediately notice the sudden rush of warm, wet air. Indonesia is a warm place. It has no spring, summer, autumn, or winter, just two seasons: rainy and dry, both of which are relative (it still rains during the dry season, it just rains less). While there is significant regional variation, in most of the country (including Java and Bali) the dry season is April to October, while the wet season is November to March.

In the highlands temperatures will naturally be cooler, and there are even snow-covered peaks in Papua, whose mountains can soar above 5000m. Bring a jacket along if planning to visit, for example, Mount Bromo on Java or Tana Toraja in Sulawesi.
