Overview
The University of Udine (Italian Università degli Studi di Udine) is a university in the city of Udine, Italy. It was founded in 1978 as part of the reconstruction plan of Friuli after the earthquake in 1976. Its aim was to provide the Friulian community with an independent centre for advanced training in cultural and scientific studies and it is an important centre for the studies of Friulian language.
The University is actively involved in student and staff exchange projects with universities within the European Union, Australia and Canada, and is currently engaged in close collaboration with several universities from Eastern Europe and other non-EU countries. Moreover, the University participates in many research projects at national and international level.
The present number of students enrolled at the University is approximate 17,000. The origins The academic activity of the University of Udine began on November 1, 1978 and the establishment of the University of Friuli was desired, unique in the Italian panorama, by popular will. Friuli obtained its own University through a regulation contained in the first organic law for the financing of post-earthquake reconstruction: article 26 of law 546 of 8 August 1977. The regulation was implemented on 6 March 1978 by decree of the President of the Republic no. 102, published in the Official Gazette no. 102 of April 13, 1978.
This decree established and de facto initiated the University of Udine, as an institution aimed at "contributing to civil, social progress and the economic rebirth of Friuli and to become an organic tool for development and renewal of originals of the culture, language, traditions and history of Friuli University Mission Higher education, research and technology transfer, interaction with the territory, internationalization: these are the areas of intervention of the University of Udine, one in function of the other and in a reciprocal flow of knowledge, experiences and projects. The University of Udine is based on these dynamics, a reality that grows and evolves every day in harmony with the multiplicity of ideas, initiatives, resources, contributions which, through a process of constant exchange and enrichment, define a unique model: that of a culture of thinking, researching, doing.
The university and the reference area In addition to the headquarters in Udine, the university is rooted in the Friuli area and, in particular, in the two provinces of Gorizia and Pordenone with their respective multifunctional centers. The University of Udine combines the traditional higher education and scientific research activities with an intense activity of transferring innovative technologies and knowledge, placing itself at the service of society and the productive and economic world. Internationalization Udine and its university are a reference point for a region that has historically been a meeting place and crossroads of different worlds and cultures.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at University of Studies Udine
University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available.
